New Year's Eve. And a new name.

Thursday 31 December. Both floors open, two dance floors, and a countdown that runs through the whole building.

The night the name changes

At midnight this room stops being Midtown Social and becomes 660 LIVE.

Same building. Same corner. Same family behind the bar, same phone number, same people who know your drink. The sign changes and nothing else does — but you can only be in the room for that once, and this is the night.

Everybody who walks in on the 31st walks out of a differently-named building. That is worth being there for.

What the night is

Live music downstairs. DJs running through midnight and well past it. Two dance floors — the lounge on the first floor, the LED floor upstairs in The Loft — so there are two versions of the evening under one roof and you can move between them.

The whole building is open. Both bars. The countdown happens everywhere at once.

The black band — and the last one

New Year's Eve is the fifth and final Full Set night, and black is its color.

It is also the only band that carries the new name. The first four say 660. The black one says 660 LIVE, because it is handed out on the night the name becomes true. It is a small thing and it is the whole point of the set.

Bring all five in January — teal, orange, red, forest green, black — and there is something waiting for you. Every complete set, not a drawing.

Getting home

Plan it before you come out. Not a lecture — it is just easier on the 31st than at twelve thirty.

- Free phone charging at the lounge bar. A dead phone is how people end up driving.

- Show a booked ride or a train ticket and it comes off the check — $5 for one, $10 for a group of up to four.

- Berwyn station is directly across Lancaster Avenue, on SEPTA's Paoli/Thorndale line.

Is it ticketed?

No. There is nothing to buy in advance and no wristband to collect at a box office.

Can I reserve for a group?

Yes, and on New Year's Eve you should. Up to eight books online; nine or more goes through the group form and a person answers, usually the same day. Reserve.

What time does it start?

Doors from four, as every Thursday. The night proper builds through the evening and the countdown is at midnight.

Are both floors open?

Yes. The lounge and its dance floor downstairs, The Loft and the LED floor upstairs. The Loft is up a flight of stairs — there is no elevator, but there is a stair-climbing chair and staff trained to use it, arranged at booking. Accessibility.

How late are you open?

Two, with last call at one thirty. No admission after midnight — which on this night means be in the room before the countdown, not after it.

Will the sign say 660 LIVE when I arrive?

Not when you arrive. That is the idea.
